The Silver Tour Brings MMJ Awareness to Florida Seniors

Seniors notoriously get out to the polls, engage with their state representatives, and have a strong voice in politics.  Robert Platshorn speaks with The Silver Tour to educate seniors on the benefits of medical marijuana and urges them to let their representatives know that they support legalization.

Robert Platshorn was imprisoned for 30 years, which is the longest sentence ever served for a nonviolent marijuana offense.  Now free and in Florida with his wife, he dedicates his time to activism. The Silver Tour website is an incredible resource with links to research on cannabis therapy as well as educational videos from reputable doctors on topics from how it works to the uses in specific medical conditions.

As Platshorn stated, “Nobody in the marijuana movement is talking to seniors [yet] seniors are the only damn people that go to the polls.” The Silver Tour is endorsed by NORML and High Times, and The Wall Street Journal proves why: his presentations are effective.

Roberta Feinman, 76 years old, said the presentation had dispelled some of her misgivings. “I thought marijuana was only for kids that are, you know, pot heads,” she said. “I would consider [cannabis] to go to sleep if it were legal.” After seeing the presentation, Ms. Yeshion was sold. “I want to get some cannabis,” she said afterward, with a big smile. “I have pain in my back, so it would be nice. Damn it to hell, I want to try it once in my lifetime.”

The Wall Street Journal covers Platshorn’s cause:

Supporters of any age can write to their elected officials supporting marijuana legalization. Get involved!
